    I understand what you're saying Katie, and I'm concerned about teens not getting care for illness, etc. But it also bothers me that my kids can't get antibiotics without my consent, but they can get BCP. You know?

    Actually, that was my point. As it states in the article, the costs of adolescents not being able to access reproductive health services (birth control, paps, abortions) are much higher, financially. I feel that this is an important right for all women, and humans, including adolescents. Sure, if all kids were raised in a perfect home, there would be no need for these things, but they are not. Personally, I would rather a troubled 16 year old be on OCPs, or even have an abortion, rather than bring a child into the world. These girls do NOT give up their babies for adoption. I have only seen two babies given up for adoption in my 2 years in OB. I have sent hundreds of babies home to teenage parent(s) and chaotic, sad lives. And thus the cycle begins again...
